I partly agree with your statements. One question we should ask is, was Richard Clarke aware of Able Danger? Remember, Shaffer said DoD lawyers prevented the transfer of intel to the FBI, not to Clarke. Also, Shaffer said: "...the lawyers didn't allow us to properly go after either by intelligence collection or by [...] allowing the FBI to go out, to look at these guys..." ( http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/08/22/terror/main790623.shtml )

Both ways, these lawyers apparently blocked the intel transfer AND regular operations.

Able Danger was alledgedly terminated in Feb 2001 ( http://www.timesherald.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=15032471&BRD=1672&PAG=461 ). I just wonder if it's possible to shut down a DIA operation which handles very sensitive intel, without knowing the substance of it.

I agree. I read other blogs and it astounds me how analyzing how the President reacted when he found out on 9/11 is considered critical thinking. Meanwhile, a Constitution is being written in Iraq. Bizarre.
