Cindy Sheehan and the Iraq War

I don’t want to get dragged into this quagmireof Cindy Sheehan, I haven’t blogged about it and I’m not going to. I agree with Chrenkoff (HT: Michelle Malkin) that this is a game that should not be played. If that faction of the Left wants to grab any club they can find to beat Bush with I have confidence that the American people will recognize it for what it is. All I know is that it’s undermining the troops (HT: Cao’s Blog) and Iraqis aren’t too fond of it either. There are some games that shouldn’t be played, some things that shouldn’t be exploited, and some things left alone.

This has brought out the worst on both sides and really needs to stop.

UPDATE:

Wizbang and others are starting to agree.

    2. C’mon now, John. You certainly must realize by now that the leaders of the democratic party long for the good old days when they were all railing against and protesting against the Vietnam war? Let me take you back along memory lane for a little bit.

We all pretty much know about Kerry’s traveling with his wife Julia Thorne to paris, which according to his testimony in 1971, “I have been to Paris. I have talked with both delegations at the peace talks, that is to say the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government and all eight of Madam Binh’s points.” Kerry was dabbling at a low-level version of “independent diplomacy” as Americans have now grown accustomed to seeing the same from Jimmy Carter, Jesse Jackson and other Democrats who are always eager to give a sympathetic ear to the enemies of the US.

In Clinton’s case, he avoided serving his country in uniform during the Vietnam War, but in a way designed to “maintain his political viability within the system.” He deftly worked an ROTC slot to buy some time, avoided the draft, and then reneged on his agreement with the U of Arkansas ROTC commander Colonel Eugene Holmes. Instead of serving his country, Clinton studied abraod, traveled to Communist countries, and helped organize the massive antiwar protests dubbed “The 1969 Student Moratorium” in Washington, D.C., and in London, England.

Young college student and lawyer Hillary Rodham Clinton marched against the war in Boston, pledged her support to the Black Panthers, and aligned herself with the Communist movement through her work with radicals like Robert Treuhaft, a former lawyer for the Communist Party; his wife, writer Jessica Mitford, and Robert Borosage of the Institute for Policy Studies, which supported Communist-backed groups in Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

For people to think this is going to go away by ignoring it is to deny the anti-war background of the people who are now the leaders of the democratic party–who have moved themselves into the CENTER of the democratic party and represent some very RADICAL ideas and ideology that are virulently anti-American, anti-war, anti-military and so on.

I disagree. We should be watching the rhetoric and paying attention to how the media is favoring this woman and bringing her much more than her 15 minutes, thanks to the propping of leftists like Joe Wilson, (of Valerie Plame fame) and others, who are doing this for purely political reasons.

    3. Well I’m of the opinion that we’ve already beat them and we’ll keep beating them. We don’t need to go to the gutter with them and mix it up, just let them keep shooting themselves in the foot while we’re busy running the country the right way.

    4. I got several laughs out of this.
